New sculpture/installation and knot variation paintings
I was delighted to be invited to exhibit my maths-inspired knot variation paintings alongside a new, commisioned knot sculpture for the foyer of the prestigious institute. The paintings were exhibited adjacent to a selection of hand drawn manuscript pages by Clifford Hugh Dowker (1912-82) from his original ‘Classification of Knots’ publication. The juxtaposition of Dowker’s work alongside my own helped to sit the paintings meaningfully within this academic context. The sculpture was initially installed with just the blue and yellow ‘bandages’ however after a couple of days it took on a life of its own with messages of love and support for Ukraine and its people.
